Poneta (Chianti, near Florence)

The old farm of Poneta is a hamlet that rises over the tranquillity of the Tuscan landscape, on the hilltops bordering San Gimignano. The hamlet, which is surrounded by vineyards and private olive groves, produces an excellent Chianti wine and extra virgin olive oil that can be purchased on the spot. In the old stables the owner has organised a little exhibition of traditional Tuscan rural culture. It introduces the tourists and the daily visitors to rural reality – not completely different from our times, but already almost forgotten.

The restoration of the farm respects the characteristics of the area: the typical stone at the exterior, ceiling with wooden beams and terracotta in the interior. The simple but cared furniture of the apartments welcomes the guests with a pleasant familiarity. Every apartment is furnished with telephone and Italian TV. Common laundry room with washing machine is available for all the guests.

A panoramic swimming pool of a size of 7x14 m, with a view over the hills that exceed the sight of the eyes, is situated at ca. 50 m from the farmhouse, surrounded by olive trees. Parking place in the farm.
